Mobile Audiences, Social Networking and the interrelationships between Media and Participation are three important research fields. The slides below are only an example of a research about mobile audiences and social participation.

Media Effects

The idea that people might imitate behaviour they have seen in the mass media is strongly diffused. It has had a great success among many scholars, even if  the model is often based on studies with misapplied methodology and is not grounded in theory. The reasons why are a lot. We propose an article by David Gauntlett (in his website) about “Ten things wrong with the media ‘effects’ model”. I agree with Gauntlett’s analysis; so, please, read it.

Media and Political Communication

Here you can see the first part of a project research about media and youths social participation. This research – directed by Michele Sorice and coordinated by Emiliana De Blasio – was presented for the first time before Italian General Elections of 2006 at the University of Westminster, London, UK.

Media Generations

Mediagenerations is a research project in the PRIN (Progetti di rilevante interesse nazionale) frame. The project is directed by Prof. Fausto Colombo, Catholic University of Milan. The project is based upon five research units:

  1. Catholic University, Milan (director: Prof. Fausto Colombo)
  2. University of Rome (director: Prof. Michele Sorice)
  3. University “Carlo Bo”, Urbino (director: Prof. Giovanni Boccia Artieri)
  4. University of Bergamo (director: Prof. Francesca Pasquali)
  5. University of Trento (director: Prof. Luigi Del Grosso Destreri)
